A high-ranking Nigerian official tells The Associated Press that the oil-rich nation released several radical Muslims detained in 2007 on suspicion of being terrorists, including a man who officials now say helped organize last week's deadly car bombing at the United Nations headquarters in the nation's capital. The men arrested four years ago had allegedly been caught with explosives. The official said their rapid release from detention was apparently aimed at placating Muslim groups.IF THEY HADN'T TRIED TO APPEASE OR PLACATE THESE "MUSLIM GROUPS" THEN THESE 23 PEOPLE WOULD BE ALIVE AND THE 80 OTHERS UNWOUNDED.
INSTEAD, THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SENT A MESSAGE THAT THEY CAN BE SCARED INTO DOING WHAT THE JIHADISTS WANT THEM TO DO AND THIS ONLY ENCOURAGED THE JIHADISTS TO INFLICT MORE TERROR UPON NIGERIANS.
THE ONLY PROPER RESPONSE TO TERROR - THE ONLY POLICY THAT CAN MAKE US SAFER - IS COUNTER-ATTACKING WITH GREATER FORCE.
WE MUST DO SO BEFORE IRAN GETS NUKES.
